Sponsored Programs Workshops to be Held During Research Week
The Sponsored Programs Office will be hosting workshops on Monday, April 2, 2007 all day for faculty, staff or anyone else who wants to learn how to get funding for their research. The following workshops will be held in the Eccles Conference Center: Industry Contracting 9:00 am – 10:30 am We will investigate the unique aspects of Industry Contracting and address the problematic terms and conditions that every PI should be aware of. We will also address how avoiding these terms and conditions can significantly reduce the risk and liability to the PI as well as the university. NIH eRA Commons 11:00 am – 12:00 pm An introductory and advanced discussion on NIH eRA Commons.
SPO will provide a general overview and address creating an eCommons user name, how to use the “status” tab, eSnap-highlights and procedures, submitting progress reports and the CRISP system. SPO Basics 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm A collaborative presentation involving Sponsored Programs and The Controller’s Office covering pre-award and post-award issues including how to locate funding, develop a budget and submit a proposal. Financial matters including setting up your account, cost transfers and other regulatory issues will also be addressed. Locating Funding Opportunities 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm Interactive workshop to assist researchers utilize the SPINS database to locate funding opportunities, have automatic notifications sent as new solicitations arise, and search for potential collaborators.
