This chemical is used in many organic chemistry laboratories. It is also used as an industrial solvent, fumigant for grains, and even a fresh fruit preservative. It is a central nervous system toxin and a carcinogen (cancer-causing).

There is an OSHA requirement that exposures be evaluated. Call EH&S for free monitoring of worker exposures. Our office also provides training and a written program template to assist in compliance.
