Getting the most out of your professional society

November 29 | 12:30-1:30 p.m. | Library 101

For faculty researchers, gaining fellowship in their discipline is an achievement many regard as a career-topping event. To achieve fellowship requires excellence in three areas: (1) A successful, transformative research program that is well documented in the literature (2) Leadership engagement in one’s discipline on a local national and international level (3) Acknowledgement among peers in your discipline, often taking the form of recognition awards for scholarship. This workshop will host a number of faculty fellows who will share their experience achieving excellence in these areas and their path to being named a fellow of their discipline.

The Office of Research and Graduate Studies strives to provide the support faculty need to excel across their research and teaching responsibilities. We believe that regardless of the time you’ve spent in academia, there are still opportunities to learn and bolster your skills. One such opportunity to retool is our Training for Research Faculty (TRF) series.

TRF workshops highlight common experiences and challenges faculty face regardless of discipline. From tips and resources to improve your relationship with your graduate students, to addressing policy regarding the tenure and sabbatical process, TRF provides information and tools for faculty to thrive in their appointments.
