Graduate Student Orientation

Designed to introduce new graduate students to graduate education at Utah State University.

Online Orientation Course (Required)

All incoming graduate students are required to take an online orientation course. This orientation provides an overview of graduate education at USU, a checklist for new students, grad school best practices, and campus resources. Students are encouraged to complete all the modules before the beginning of the semester, but all materials will remain accessible throughout their time at USU. Students should contact their Graduate Program Coordinator (GPC) with any questions.

In-Person Orientation

The School of Graduate Studies offers an optional in-person orientation session for students located on or near the Logan campus. The in-person orientation supplements, rather than replaces, the online orientation. Students will hear from faculty, staff, and the Vice Provost of Graduate Studies on how to make the best of their time in graduate school. The 2024 in-person orientation session will take place on Thursday, August 22 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., followed by an ice cream social for all graduate students. The in-person session will include light breakfast foods, lunch, and cross-disciplinary networking opportunities.
