Training

A key mission of the School of Graduate Studies is to work closely with departments, faculty, and students to provide the information and support that is crucial for successful graduate study. The SGS offers a number of training opportunities through workshops and other informational meetings. Additionally, SGS staff members are very willing to provide more focused assistance regarding topics such as recruitment, thesis and dissertation preparation, or financial awards to groups of students or faculty in individual departments.

 

Thesis/Dissertation workshop 

This optional workshop provides a thorough survey of USU format requirements and guidelines, as well as journal and other departmental format options

TA Training

The teaching assistant workshop is required for graduate students who have been awarded or are pursuing a teaching assistantship.

Grant Writing Workshop

Graduate students and postdoctoral research fellows looking for training on how to get started writing grant proposals can now participate in an intensive one-day seminar.

Research Scholars' Certificate

The Research Scholars Certification Program is designed to introduce students and postdoctoral fellows to key topics in scholarly research and publication.

Graduate Student Research Training Series

Graduate students are invited to participate in trainings held throughout the year covering a variety of topics important in a grad program.
