How to Get Around in Logan
Need a lift? No car? No problem!
There are many inexpensive or free transportation options in Logan. Whether you’re traveling to campus or need a ride to Salt Lake City, here’s a guide to help new students get around.
The Aggie Shuttle is a free service to help you get around campus more efficiently. It has multiple routes that stop at the most convenient spots around campus, and it regularly runs from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. during the Fall and Spring semesters. The Aggie Shuttle allows you to park in Stadium parking, which is the largest parking area on campus, but also located approximately three blocks from the main campus, and access all of the university, including sites like the Water Lab and the Innovations campus, within minutes. It also features an online, real-time shuttle tracker, which can be accessed via computer or mobile device. You can also find out how close the shuttle is by texting the number provided on all Aggie Shuttle stop signs.
Aggie Blue Bikes
If you’d rather bike to class, but don’t have your own, Aggie Blue Bikes provides free bicycle rentals. Aggie Blue Bikes rents a variety of bikes, from cruisers to mountain bikes, for either one day or for three months. They perform all the maintenance, and tune up every bike between users. You don’t have to do anything, except provide your own bike lock.
Aggie Blue Bikes also offers free bike maintenance workshops, tool boards that all students are welcome to use, and cycling education classes. Whether you want to rent a bike for a day, three months, or just pop in to give your own set of wheels a tune-up, Aggie Blue Bikes is here to help.
Zimride is a ride-sharing program with a USU exclusive network. It’s an easy-to-use, money-saving, air quality-enhancing way to share rides one time or every day. Simply login, add a ride (as a passenger or driver) and let the matches come to you. Zimride simplifies the payment process by allowing users to chip in for gas via Paypal. Over 1200 USU students and employees have joined. For safety, all users in the USU network are Facebook certified and registered with an A-number.
USU has partnered with Enterprise Carshare to offer car rental by the hour directly from the Logan Campus. Choose from a selection of vehicle sizes and hourly rates online, pick up your vehicle, and you’re off! Sign-up for the program, and gain access to one of two vehicles 24-hours per day, by reservation.
Cache Valley Transit District
Cache Valley Transit District (CVTD) serves the Cache Valley community. It has fare-free bus routes running throughout the valley, including commuter routes coming in and out of Logan, fixed routes that travel around Logan, and routes that run through Utah State University campus. All routes connect at the Intermodal Transit Center, located right in the commercial center of Logan. In many residential areas, bus stops are located within walking distance, but parking and bike storage areas are available at the transit center.
In addition to serving the Cache Valley area, CVTD operates the Salt Lake Express, a bus that runs from Logan to Salt Lake City approximately twelve times a day. The Salt Lake Express makes stops at the Salt Lake International Airport, Downtown Salt Lake City and the Greyhound station. View maps and schedules here.
