In order to be admitted to a graduate degree program at Utah State University, you must meet these minimum requirements*:
- Have the requisite degree for your intended program by the time you are matriculated.
- 3.0 or higher GPA for the terms that include your last 60 semester or 90 quarter credits.
- Score at or above the 40th percentile on appropriate admissions test. Some programs accept a portfolio in place of admission test scores. See individual department web sites or contact the department to learn if this is an option for the program to which you want to apply.
- Three letters of recommendation.

Deadlines by Department
While many departments have specific application deadlines, other departments admit students throughout the year. The time it takes to process an application is primarily dependent on the speed with which the School of Graduate Studies receives letters of recommendation, transcripts and test scores. In some cases, this process may take 6-8 weeks. Applicants should plan accordingly.
As soon as an application is complete, a recommendation is made by the appropriate department to the dean of the School of Graduate Studies, who must approve all admissions. Official notification of acceptance or rejection will come from the dean of the School of Graduate Studies.
