David Tarboton spoke on the importance of properly organizing and sharing research data at the annual D. Wynne Thorne Lecture on April 8. The lecture, part of Utah State University’s Research Week, recognizes the previous year’s recipient of the D. Wynne Thorne Career Research Award. It is the most prestigious research recognition awarded by USU.
The latest WebAIM Million report is out — and so are some key facts about web accessibility, in higher education and out in the wild. The good news is that higher education has made significant strides in web accessibility over the past 10 years, as is documented in award-winning research. The bad news: in the six years that WebAIM has conducted its WebAIM Million reports, the world’s top 1 million websites have remained riddled with errors.
A study recently published in the journal Science Advances by an international team of scientists, including Utah State University climate scientist Wei Zhang, found worrisome trends indicating that from 1979 to 2020, heat waves globally became more frequent, persisted longer, covered larger areas, and brought increasingly hotter temperatures.
