On March 21, Michael Torgesen began his career with the Office of Research and Graduate Studies. Torgesen was hired as the RGS Business Manager, following the departure of Elisa Hoffman.

Torgesen is excited to begin working with the Office of Research and Graduate Studies, and he said his skills and experience have prepared him for this new position.

“I’ve worked in business services for the last year as a financial specialist for the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business and as an accountant for the Controller’s Office in sponsored programs,” Torgesen said. “My background in business services has helped prepare me for the responsibilities of this position.”

Craig Kelley, financial officer for the RGS office, said he’s excited to work with Torgesen.

“Michael’s a quick learner. He’s a hard worker. He’s someone who has initiative and is thorough. He has lots of energy. He’s excited to be a part of the team, and we’re excited to have him as part of the team,” Kelley said.

Torgesen will assist all eight RGS departments become more transparent in their budgetary units, and he will enable the RGS financial team to provide additional resources to departments.

“I hope to work closely with them (RGS divisions) and help them accomplish their goals,” Torgensen said.
